Have to Love the 3-Day Weekends

And somehow it is already Monday again, but a much better Monday as I am sitting at home relaxing with my husband (vs. being at work). It is looking like it might be a bit of a cloudy day here though, so perhaps not much of a sunny, picnic-type day. We had really nice weather on Saturday and Sunday though, so definitely cannot complain if it is a little less sunny today.

My week at work ended well though after getting a bit of not so good news on Monday. After some thought and prayer (and talking with others to get insightful advice), I e-mailed a letter to my supervisor expressing my concerns, frustrations, and reasonings, etc. It was just simply refreshing to be able to communicate my thoughts/feelings, instead of holding them in. Plus they were well-received and were forwarded up and up to higher management...and hopefully some change will take place.

And having a really good Friday (though busy -- had 3 analyses to deliver that day) was a great way to start a wonderful, but often rare, 3-day weekend. We started it off well by spending Friday evening with a married couple whom we are good friends with and of course, a couple games of Killer Bunnies. Then Ryan and I spent somewhat of a lazy day together on Saturday, though did make some travels out to unintentionally spend all of our miscellaneous money -- Ryan spent his on a new pair of tennis shoes and shorts and I found a new skirt and two shirts which I couldn't resist. Our next installment of miscellaneous money doesn't come til almost 2 weeks, so may have a bit of occasional buyer remorse until then. And my Dad would be happy to know that we also took my car to the car wash and vacuumed it out. Now if it only had a passenger side mirror, him and Ryan's happiness would be complete. Think that might take a few installments of miscellaneous money... :)

Yesterday was a Day of Grandparents...well, only Ryan's sets of grandparents but hopefully will see mine next month and then definitely in August for our big Branson trip (we counted up our "vacation" coin jar which we have been saving up for the Branson trip and are up to just over $120!). First we met Ryan's maternal grandma and his parents for lunch and then hung out that afternoon in her assisted living apartment. Ryan's Dad got his new bike out (I can't think of the name, but makes me think of a cool adult trike) and him, Ryan, and Jude rode it around the parking lot. I had a skirt on or would've taken a trip around myself.

And then we headed a little east to Ryan's paternal grandparents' home where the men grilled (it is definitely a team effort, but at least didn't take nearly as long as the last grilling event there) some bbq ribs and ears of sweet corn, and along with some potato salad & rolls, made a great dinner. It was a fun evening hanging out there with everyone and Scruffy (Ryan's parents' dog) only "ran away" once so overall a good day together.

And now should sign off, so I can go enjoy my last day of the weekend...
