A Very Lazy Saturday
Saturday ended up being a lazy but very fun day for me, Jen, and Mom (Ryan was at his youth team retreat for a large part of the day). We just basically hung around the apartment watching TLC programs and playing Killer Bunnies. To make it a little less expensive weekend for them and us, we decided to make sure and enjoy mostly home-cooked meals. I made one of my favorites, asian chicken salad, for lunch and then Ryan made his famous chicken enchiladas for dinner (which reminded me that I need to have him make these much more often...I always liked my enchiladas recipe in my pre-Ryan life, but after tasting his, I "fell in love" and definitely cannot go back).
We also celebrated Mom's birthday this weekend, so Ryan picked her up a yummy Hy-Vee cake (we finally finished off the last of it last night after Terra Nova) on his way home Saturday night. We were trying to surprise her with it, but she caught a peek of it when grabbing a coke out of the fridge before dinner. Unfortuately forgot to pick up a new box of candles, so she was surprised to see that she was celebrating her 30th birthday this year (from Ryan's cake in March and eventually will be on my cake in about a year and a half). We also watched the movie Dreamer, so if you haven't seen, it definitely is on my recommended movie list -- it is one of those fun, feel-good movies I so enjoy.
