Who Wants to Clean?

Though a productive and also fun weekend, it was also a little full of procrastination; towards some needed house-cleaning that is. On Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, painting the house got in the way of tenative plans to complete some inside cleaning. And then by Saturday afternoon, we were too worn out from the painting (it is getting closer to being finished...as Ryan has been saying, I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel) to make much headway or effort towards making a dent in the house-cleaning.

Though we did find time that night to enjoy a couple movies with our friends Brandon & Steve at Steve's home -- Eight Below (good movie, but hard to watch at times...it was like reading a really good book where you're anxious to find out the ending) and Apocolypto (not as good...but it was also really late at this point so my movie-watching/rating capabilities may have been hindered somewhat).

And then today, we had very earnest plans to tackle the cleaning chores early this afternoon. But a funny thing happened while we were at church this morning: we needed to drop off a few things with the receptionist and as we were finishing up, she informed us that someone had just dropped off 4 College World Series tickets to her that they weren't going to be able to use and wanted to know if we would like to have them. Hmm, cleaning my house or attending a CWS baseball game...it wasn't a hard decision.

But after getting back home from the game (which we can thankfully walk to from our house -- the traffic is not something that you want to be in), we did squeeze in a few house-cleaning chores. Not quite to the extent that I had originally planned or hoped, but that's ok. As my Dad wisely told me earlier today (Happy Father's Day again to a super DAD), it will be there waiting for me tomorrow.

And I also believe that "funny thing" that happened at church this morning was what I would call a God moment...He definitely enjoys giving us those spontaneous gifts of time/memories (don't think a memory of staying home and cleaning would've been quite the same or long-lasting), we just have to make sure that we take advantage of them and receive them when given.
